According to her, 9,000 employees who are surplus to requirements should be dismissed by the end of the year.

Speaking to reporters at the 10th anniversary celebration of the economic periodical Kvartalni Monitor, Udovicki said that the last round of consultations is underway on the law on determining the maximum number of employees and that the government should define a bill by the end of the month or a few days later.

"The maximum number of employees will be determined immediately after the bill is adopted at the level of users of public funds. After that, all users of public funds will have to comply with the regulation," Udovicki said.

Asked if she expects all of the 9,000 people to be dismissed by the end of the year, she said that "a reduction must take place." "Not all of it is necessarily dismissals, there are natural departures as well," Udovicki said.

"There were many retirements at the end of last year. We do not have the exact figures, but our estimate is that around 7,000 people left," she noted.
