Serbia drops in WB business conditions ranking

The World Bank has issued a prognosis of business conditions around the world for 2015 and ranked Serbia 91st out of 189 countries.

Serbia drops in WB business conditions ranking

The latest report by the World Bank, entitled Doing Business 2015, ranks Macedonia the highest among the countries of the region, putting it at 30th place, followed by Montenegro at 36th, Bulgaria at 38th, Romania at 48th, Slovenia at 51st and Croatia at 65th.

Serbia's highest rank is in terms of investor and minority shareholder protection, at 32nd place, while the worst segment is the process of getting construction permits, 186th spot.

Regarding the simplicity of the tax payment procedure, Serbia is ranked 165th, while resolving insolvency puts it at 48th spot, seeing as the procedure takes two years on average, the costs amount to 20 percent of the real estate value and the return rate is at 29.2 percent.

The report is the 12th such document by the World Bank. It is presented annually and evaluates improvements made to the business environment, but also obstructions to business.

Singapore tops the rankings, followed by New Zealand, Hong Kong, Denmark, South Korea, Norway, the USA, the UK, Finland and Australia.
