This is a great step in improving the dialogue and cooperation among the countries of the former Yugoslavia and Albania, the Serbian minister of finance stressed.

The conference was being held on three levels - a meeting of prime ministers, who discussed strategic issues with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, a meeting of foreign ministers, and another of inisters of economy and finance, which was the longest according to the agenda, he explained.

Vujović said he was surprised by the large number of potential investors present at the meeting on economy he had attended, adding that some of those investors had asked him questions.

"There is an atmosphere of understanding at the economic panel discussions and the participants have shown support for various ideas and views in an effort to complete existing and start new projects in infrastructure, thereby linking up the motorway and railroad networks in the region," he pointed out.

Many small investors took part in the economic meeting and they were interested in projects funded by the World Bank, auctions and public procurement, he said.

According to Vujović, there is interest in the business community for a so called road show, that is a presentation of detailed investment opportunities regarding subsidies from the Serbia Import Export Promotion Agency, but also when it comes to the sale of government companies undergoing restructuring.

Serbia issued on August 15 an invitation for offers to purchase 502 government companies and participants of the meeting in Berlin have been asking how to apply and take part in the auctions, he stated.
