Central bank intervenes with EUR 30 million

The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) has bought EUR 30mn in the foreign exchange market; the middle exchange rate stands at RSD 114,0082 for one euro (EUR).

The Serbian currency is 0.5 percent stronger against the euro compared to a month ago and 0.6 percent weaker year-on-year.

The NBS purchased on Wednesday EUR 30 million in the interbank foreign exchange market so as to alleviate the excessive daily volatility of the exchange rate.

The indicative exchange rate of the dinar against the dollar went up by 0.2 percent and stands at RSD 82.8187.

The dinar went up by 2.5 percent against the dollar on the monthly level, and 5.6 percent on the annual level.

Since the beginning of the year, the central bank has purchased EUR 215 million in the interbank foreign exchange market and sold EUR 415 million to reduce the excessive daily volatility of the exchange rate.
