BELGRADE A Jat Airways will make its proposal for "an optimal solution" for the reorganization of the national airline" and submit it to the Serbian government. This was announced by Assistant Minister in Charge of Air Traffic Milutin Popovic. Govt. to receive Jat Airways reorganization plan At its next meeting on January 31, the working group will discuss Jat's fleet, its draft business plan for 2013, proposals from the Ministry of Transport, and other issues, Popovic told Tanjug. Jat Airways will be reorganized in such a way as to become a leader in the domestic market, have an adequate number of employees and be competitive, said Popovic, who is a member of the working group. Jat will thus become attractive to potential strategic partners and the government could then think about a partnership with some foreign company, and the same goes for Jat Tehnika. The assistant minister said the claims being made in certain media that the government was considering turning Jat into a low-cost airline were untrue. "Jat cannot be a low-cost airline, because it is Serbia's national airline which wants to be dominant in the market," said Popovic. In 2008, a 51 percent stake in Jat was offered at a tender for the price of EUR 51 million, but there were no bidders. (Tanjug, file) Tanjug
