200,000 tons of duty free wheat could be secured from import, in order to meet demand and control the prices. This was announced by Minister of Agriculture Slobodan Milosavljevic, who said that he would propose extension of the export ban on wheat and corn until the next harvest. Export ban on wheat continues The minister says that until then the required quantities of wheat and the entire yield would be defined. In the meantime, 200,000 tons of duty free wheat could be secured from import, in order to fill the Serbian demand and control the market prices. Milosavljevic added that the decision on import permit for wheat could be expected in a couple of weeks. The ban was introduced last August after a drought that significantly reduced the yield of crops.
