“It all depends on the measures in which the corrections on regulating prices will come, firstly on communal services and derivates, and how the price of derivates will move and what kind of decisions will be made by the Government, rather the local self-administrations,” said the National Bank of Serbia Governor.

Asked whether the Serbian citizens are taking out too many loans and are too far in debt, Jelasić said that “the height of the debt is not alarming rather the speed at which citizens are taking out loans.”

“The private debt of the population has doubled.” Jelasić said, adding that he expects that many will have to sell their properties and that some will even be left out on the streets, but that “these are things that must be thought about before signing a credit agreement.”
