Moscow "counts on continued close cooperation with Belgrade"

She said that Moscow expects the head of the Serbian side of the joint inter-governmental committee for cooperation in trade, economy, and science and technology to be appointed soon.

Serbia's First Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has been at the helm of the committee until now.

"We count on continued close cooperation with the government of Serbia in the interest of deepening the partnership between our countries," said Zakharova.

The Beta agency noted in its report that Russian President Vladimir Putin in May met with Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic in the Kremlin, and that the Russian leader said on the occasion, "I hope that whatever new government’s composition, it will give a worthy place to people who give serious attention to developing the relations between the Russian Federation and Serbia."
