The artist, Joseph J. Sherman, and Boruch Rizel visited the embassy on October 27. The embassy said that Sherman is a painter of Jewish origin, a member of the ultra-orthodox Jewish community, who grew up in the United States where he completed his studies in marketing.

Ambassador Milutin Stanojevic "expressed the gratitude for this gesture and recalled the long tradition of friendly relations between the Serbian and Jewish people, particularly emphasizing solidarity in difficult period for both of the nations during the Second World War," the embassy announced.

Stojanovic added he believed the two peoples would in the future, just as throughout the history, continue to develop close friendly relations.
