The staging of the last year's Pride Parade created a positive environment in which it is possible for the LGBT community to become more active, the officials said during a news conference.

According to the latest surveys, the number of people who said that they know a member of the LGBT community has increased from 10 per cent recorded last year to 18 per cent this year, the organization's director Boban Stojanovic said and added that this means the tolerance and support for the LGBT community has increased.

Belgrade Pride Week will feature various events such as debates, political forums, film screenings and plays.

This year's Pride Parade was backed by the Serbian Ministry of Culture and Information, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Office for Human and Minority Rights and the European Integration Office.
