1. Modern greece doesn't have any connection with old hellenic history. they were Hellenic cities...not "greek" the modern greek identity is not based from a collection of preserved heritage as the Albanians. your identity and history is based only on the Abrahamic religion of orthodoxy. no one in the history of Europe have ever defined themselves as "greeks" other than the modern romioi population inhabiting the modern greek state after 1830. to our beloved neighbours watch the lecture by the brilliant history professor Maria Efthimiou from the University of Athens. you can see for yourself that Albanians were among the most important influential element of the creation of the modern "greek" state. she clearly states that Albanians were among the majority population in all major cities and that the Albanian language is among the oldest languages in Europe.

Dear Reader, though this was not a reply to my post, let me repeat, you have no idea what this Greek comment means. The word bond is not the synonymous of the word border. If you really want to use our history to interpret our comments and the way Greeks and Serbs talk to each other, you are going to have to learn our history first. And you don't.

In reply to your reply to me, I suggest you learn first how Greece helped Serbia from 1991 to 2003 and then you can post comments to discuss it with Greeks or Serbs. Unless of course you are not here to discuss, but only to express your hate to Serbia or whoever.

LOL irini, I can only iterate what icj1 said. So if Tsipras raises the VAT to 23%, cuts pensions and employment even more, raises the retirement age by a lot, sends entire Greek families to starvation and many to suicide, you won't do anything. But if he dares recognize Kosovo, you will do to him things come out from the dark ages from the booboo scary ottomans. Got it :).

Irini, if my memory is right, the Greek government did not do anything in 1999 to stop the war on Serbia. You may have gone to the streets to protest, just like you voted 61% OXI and partied afterward, but all of that was useless. There is a mechanism of consensus in NATO, where they have to unanimously agree on some of the actions they take. That means, every single country has veto power. Since the war in 1999 against Milosevic's brutal regime happened, guess what Greece's vote was back then. :)

When your own slavic blood don't love you, you think the Greeks will love you just because you share the same religion with them ??? Lie yourself!!!
*Do you know what recently a Greek told to me ?
That they were lucky to not have Serbs like neighbours, and that Albania was always the shield of Greece, if not they will have the same problems like other Serbs neighbors. That the Albanians and Serbs are the two most stubborn peoples in Balkan and i agree with that...
    * To all the ignorants Serbs, just for your own culture: ask a Greek what is "Methodija"??

No matter how much clashs we had in our history we always were able to overcome the problems with each other.. Look a little how much Albanians are honored in Greece.
Look a little the Greek minority in Albania...
The Archbishop of Orth. Church in Albania is a Greek origin.
And i have no prob. with that as much as he love my country and Albanian orthodoxs.
Chameria is going to be resolved - is the only issue that generates hate between Albanians and Greeks.

  10. @ Reader

Dear Reader, I don't think you have any idea about the Greek nation, so you use specific reactions (or lack of reactions) that come from the Greek nation regarding very specific things, in order to interpret our reactions regarding very different things. You don't know how we feel about Serbia, you don't know what we did for them in the '90s, you don't know how much we willingly risked Greece's political stability in 1999. In 1999 B. Clinton stated in the Congress that he wanted to bomb Serbia, because "such an action could implicate Greece and Turkey in a war between them and that would benefit the American interests". He said it like that! And yet we forced our government to support Serbia, though Greece's interest was to stay neutral. This is what we do when Serbia gets victimized. The riots we had in Greece from 2009-2015 are 10% of what we did in 1999. So don't use our reaction regarding our PM's after-referendum decision, in order to interpret how far we would go for Serbia. These are two different things and I can't explain them to you right here right now, because only Greeks and Serbs understand (you are British, right?). And "the colorful (Serbian-orthodox-church-priest-like) gore" as you called it is not Serbian, it's related to what Ottomans did to ALL Orthodox. Serbs know why I chose impaling as Tsipras' punishment. Reader, you seem very nice, but you lack info. Only Serbs can understand 100% the message that a Greek sends to them. Take care!

Don't fall on your Press' trap, brothers. The same is happening in Greece these days, there are several articles against Serbia, because that's the only way for our pro-EU Press to justify what our traitor Minister did to you. But Tsipras knows very well that Greece cannot recognize Kosovo, because if that ever happens the peace in Greece will be at stake.

The bond between us is sealed with our ancestors' blood and each nation's sacrifice for the other nation's freedom. And this didn't happen just once or twice in our history, this IS our history. Those Westerners and their dogs (Albanians) cannot understand this, because they've never felt like that for anyone and no one ever felt like that for them. But Serbs and Greeks know better.

Kosovo is Serbia and will always be Serbia for the Greeks.

You supposed Greeks on here are too funny. It is sad if the comments are coming from true Greeks, but chances are they are from Serbs maybe living in Greece, if that!
But as a country, Greece has many many problems today, whether your banks will be open next week, whether you are going to bring home a paycheck, whether the financial picture will improve to where your children will be able to go to college or spend their life in menial jobs with no hope for a future. Or with the ability of its people to easily leave and go somewhere else for a brighter future leaving only the rich and the desolate to be the future Greeks.
But yet should Greece recognize Kosovo, you are going to raise up in the masses. Recognition of Kosovo from Greece is a minor point at this time, when the time comes that it is needed like for EU admission, Greece will come in line if they are still a voting member.
You have your Orthodox religion to bind you together for now. But wait until the Greeks realize that it is inherent that Serbs believe they are the chosen people and Greeks are some sub sect of the religion.

  28. I am Greek, just like every other Greek I have special feelings for Serbia and moreover I want Greece to support Serbia on Kosovo, because Albanians have no right to claim Serbian land. Needless to say that I am not going to support or vote a Greek political party that sides with Albania. However, I read several Serbian comments lately regarding the (irrefutably awful) comments of the Greek Minister Kotzias. Before Serbs judge Greece, they have to remember that Greeks were the ONLY allies they had in their most difficult times. We risked peace and stability in Greece to support you and in 1995 Serbia stabbed us in the back. Whoever recognizes the name Macedonia, recognizes FYORM's territorial claims over Greece. Dacic expects explanation from Athens regarding the Kotzias statements, while at the same time Dacic supports FYROM's accession in the EU and NATO (while Greece doesn't). Not to mention the statements of Nikolic and Irinej about FYROM and Greece..Where were you last year Serbs when Nikolic made those statements? How come I didn't see a single Serb posting a comment against Nikolic? If Serbia wants allies, Serbia needs to start acting as an ally.

I am saying all that with love and only love for the bravest nation in the world during the '90s, for our beloved brothers who made us proud so many times in the past and who will always care for, regardless politics and politicians.

If you did, it only proves one thing, that you are desperate. 16 years and you still cry for independence. The biggest cowards in Europe, the only Europeans that sent another country (in fact a whole coalition of countries, i.e. NATO) to fight for their own battles and yet you still can't achieve independence.

Few words to Serbs: (a) If you really know your recent history and all the details about the Greek nation's reaction and help in the '90s, then you should know that the Greek nation can accept a lot, but we will never accept a pro-USA Greek government that backstabs Serbs. I was very surprised to read some Serbian comments these days. Learn your recent history, we gambled Greece for you in the 90s. (b) If you know some basic stuff about Greece's national issues (and be careful, I don't mean only Cyprus), then you know why Greece can never recognize Kosovo. We have our own "Raška" in Greece, if you know what I mean.(c) If a Greek PM turns out to be a traitor and recognizes Kosovo (because a Greek PM who recognizes Kosovo, harms directly Greece's national interests), expect a huge reaction from us. Over our dead bodies, brothers. (d) Did I forget to mention that we hate Albanians and their "greater maps"?

To recognize Kosovo opens the door to the recognition of Turkey's partition of Cyprus.

Ditto Spain, because that means the door is open to the Basques to break off. Romania. Slovakia. China. Russia. etc. It's not so much their love of Serbs (although some are sympathetic), but rather to protect themselves.

At some point (maybe already?) Kosovo runs up against the resistance of other countries who have volatile minorities looking to exploit an opening that will lead to independence for themselves.

  48. @ Reader

You are right in what you say, but Tsipras did make statements yesterday. And politicians from the other political parties in Greece made statements too, accusing Kotzias. I don't know why it's not on B92 today, but Tsipras basically repeated the Ambassador's statement and made very clear that Greece's position on Kosovo will not change.

  49. Poor Albanians, you were happy for one whole day, hahaha! I was reading your comments yesterday and I must admit I laughed a lot! You really thought Greece would recognize a pseudo-State, didn't you? Poor Albanians, naïve and idiots as always! It must be your genes or the stash you smoke! Well I have news for you, Tsipras made statements yesterday and he stated CLEARLY that Greece does NOT recognize Kosovo and that this is a FIXED position for Greece. Moreover, if Greece ever accepts to have an office of Kosovo in Greece, that office will not be an Embassy!
Just because no one ever loved you Albanians (and no one ever will), it doesn't mean that no one loves Serbs! We do! And we ALWAYS will. And keep in mind that Tsipras' days are OVER in the Ministry of the Hellenic Republic. He is counting days. And if you want to know how much we love Serbs and how we feel about Kosovo and Metohija, watch this and educate yourselves: [link]
PS: Serbian brothers, take Vucic' government down ASAP. It's him you should worry about, not Greece.

  50. Maybe the Balkans should have never separated from Turkey after all.
Turkey would be today a true modern and powerful state run mainly by Balkan people and balkan people wont be at each others throat so often. Life in the balkans was always better under the Ottomans than under any other empire. The best Western Europeans will do is pillage the balkans and go home.

  51. "Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said on Thursday he was aware of the pressure Greece is under to recognize Kosovo, but that he believes it would not happen."

Greece is under a lot of pressure about many other things these days. The pressure about recognizing Kosovo is the last of the last priorities in this moment, assuming it even exists. Dacic's request for explanations also will be the last thing the Greeks think about right now. As usual everybody thinks only about themselves and Dacic is no exception. Not a word of solidarity has he said towards the Greek people and government. None that made the media at least. But when Kosovo is involved he brings it up as the central theme. Basically this request for explanations sounds like asking a man in terrible pain who just lost his arms to give you a massage on your left toe. The answer of the Greek ambassador was great: "It was very clear" he said. Meaning, why is Dacic even talking about it, it was clear.

  53. The way things are going, Greece is fast becoming a failed state worse than Kosovo. Greeks are just a bunch of hellenised serbs , turks and albanians who pretend to be the grandsons of Socrates. They are the most artificial and fake creation in the Balkans, have subverted ancient greece history for themselves and continue to have a standard of living for as long as they are able to find naive countries to lend them money that will never be paid back. If one considers Greece's debt, they real standard of living and GDP is similar to Serbia or Albania.

  54. Greek Ambassador to Serbia Constantine Economides has said that his country does not recognize the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo.

Who cares what the ambassador is saying, since Greek gov. is not impeding Kosova in any way and also doing a lot of business +supporting Kosova gov. in every way possible. Now , can Serbia read between lines or what!????

I agree, much ado about nothing.
But I see great similarities in Greek and Serbian politics, you have one shooting off their mouth one day and then the next you have someone contradicting what was actually said.
But in this case he did not contradict what was said yesterday, he said that what was said was very clear. And it was because he said yesterday that Greece supported Kosovo membership in international organizations and they have done that up to date but he did say that the position on recognition is unchanged.
It was Serbia that tried to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Greek policies have not changed in this administration from the last.
Many of the countries throughout the world have issues with the UDI for their own personal reasons and their failure to recognize Kosovo is not in reality a support for Serbia.

  56. The person/ idiot who currently holds the position of minister of foreign affairs of Greece certainly DOESN'T express the feelings of Greek people.

There is no way for Greek people to accept the recognition of a monkey state like kosovo. We, Greek nationalists, consider albanians as our enemy and Serbs are our brothers. As clear as this.

Someone has to say to the employee of the ministry of foreign affairs who currently receives his salary by being "minister" that not all of us are leftists and not not all of us are idiots.

    Enough with the monkeys

    Kosovo IS Serbia

  60. Greece indeed is trying to figure out a way to recognize Kosovo for her personal interest. "Under Pressue" is a great way out for Greece. They get their share internationally, and save friendship with serbia. Greece could careless about a new country that cannot seem to stand on its own two feet. However, Greece also has lost its balance of her feet and can use this opportunity to show the international community, mainly EU that Greece is willing to contribute to EU's values and ideas of peace of stability in Balkan area. Serbia will be upset, but it will get over it eventually as it did with montenegro and macedonia.
