EU Special Representative in Pristina Samuel Zbogar says he sees no valid reason to further delay the establishment of a special court for war crimes in Kosovo.

"No need for delays in setting up special court"

He pointed out that the deputies representing Albanian parties were "concerned about how adopting the law would affect the past, while members of minority groups were concerned about how it would reflect on the future."

"We are receiving questions about why the special court’s setting up is being delayed every day. All we can answer is it that it is a difficult and demanding process. However, it is an international obligation," said the EU special representative in Kosovo.

All crimes have to be investigated and perpetrators prosecuted - not only the crimes alleged in the Council of Europe report, but also those committed during and after the Kosovo conflict. War crimes never expire, Zbogar said, pointing out that the court would be working outside Kosovo to ensure better witness protection.
