The British media have reported that Tony Blair turned down a speaking engagement in a world hunger forum in Sweden in a dispute over this fee.

Blair "asked for EUR 450k for 20-minute hunger forum speech"

But Blair's office on Wednesday denied this, saying that "there had been no negotiations over the amount of money he would be earning because he would not have earned anything from the appearance," said the Independent's website.

The Mail earlier reported that the conference was organized by the food company Eat who last year booked former U.S. President Bill Clinton to speak "for GBP 327,000."

The article quoted a source who said that "Blair is just not Clinton, and even his star power is fast diminishing."

Blair previously on several occasions denied the reports in the British media that his personal fortune amounts to GBP 140 million, saying he in fact had 25 million in the bank.
