Chinese want "guarantees, not concession"

Chinese want "guarantees, not concession"

"We are considering the terms, and these would certainly not include provision of guarantees on the flow of traffic, but rather offering what is possible within the framework of the concession,” Mihajlovic told reporters at the Palace of Serbia, Tanjug reported.

“The Chinese side is not used to concessions, this would be the first time they agreed one and that is why these talks are difficult,” Mihajlovic said.

The concession is on the construction and maintenance of a 17.6 km highway section from Obrenovac to Surcin, a 30.9 km section from Preljina to Pozega, and management of a 103 km section from Obrenovac to Preljina.

The two Chinese companies, China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and Shandong High-Speed Group, completed the pre-qualification procedure, and the deadline for submission of concession bids was February 5.
