Vucic confers with representatives of Swedish companies

Vucic sought suggestions and advice from Swedish entrepreneurs on the way in which Serbia can improve its investment conditions so as to attract more foreign investors, reports Radio and Television of Serbia.

Addressing of the participants of the Business Forum in Stockholm, organized by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce, the Serbian prime minister pointed out that the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the EBRD support the implementation of the Serbian government's reforms.

He stated that the implementation of fiscal consolidation measures is going according to plan, adding that for the first time there was a surplus in the budget in January.

Citing the estimates of experts, Vucic said that an economic growth of two percent is expected in Serbia in two years.

He called on Swedish companies to invest in Serbia, adding that the country's advantages include good Labor Law, contracts on duty-free exports, money incentives and above all political stability since the country is on the EU pathway.

Vucic underlined that Serbia is a stable country, which has good relations with countries in the region and other countries in Europe, as well as free trade agreements, the government's press office released in a statement.

Representatives of Swedish companies, which have subsidiaries in Serbia, noted that investors can count on a good investment framework, and also a professional and educated workforce.

They also pointed to the significance of political and other kinds of stability in Serbia, which is quite an important aspect for attraction of foreign investment.

The forum participants concluded that the privatization of public enterprises will improve the economic situation in the country.

The Business Forum in Stockholm, organized by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce, brought together representatives of Scania, Ericsson, Saab, Alstom, Amphenol Connex and other companies.

The Serbian delegation, visiting the Kingdom of Sweden led by Prime Minister Vucic, also comprises Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic, and President of the Serbian Chamber Marko Cadez.

The Serbian officials will meet with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom and Tobias Bilstrom, first deputy speaker of the Riksdag of Sweden.
