New Ukranian authorities must now live up to promises

The first task for a new government, that will probably be made up of the parties led by Petro Poroshenko and Arseniy Yatsenyuk, will be to reform the economy - something demanded by the IMF before it sends the first tranche of financial aid.

In addition to the desire for EU integration corruption was among the key reasons for the clashes in Kiev last year which ended with the departure of President Vladimir Yanukovich, and then escalated into a war in the east of the country.

Analysts say that President Poroshenko is "in great danger of his own promises" since it is believed that the population of Ukraine has no time to wait, and will expect results from a new government "as soon as possible."

Ukraine turning away from Russia toward the European Union will require the authorities to react quickly and make decisions that will be in compliance with the EU, and enable normal life for the population - primarily by regulating the supply of energy, considering the huge debt to Russia and a very unstable financial situation in the country.
