KIEV Ukraine's Minister of Justice Olena Lukash has warned protesters who occupied her ministry that she could ask for a state of emergency to be introduced. BBC is reporting that Lukash told local media she would ask the National Security and Defense Council to introduce the measures unless the protesters left. State of emergency could be introduced in Ukraine The anti-government demonstrators stormed the building on Sunday evening and barricaded themselves inside. Radical activists of the Spilna Sprava group smashed windows on the building of the ministry and set up barricades, AFP reported. Opposition leader and former boxer Vitaly Klichko visited the protesters overnight "and asked them to leave the building, but they did not do so," said reports. The police have launched an investigation related to the storming and seizing of the government building. BBC says that unrest is spreading across Ukraine, with activists taking over municipal buildings in up to ten cities, and that buildings have come under attack "even in eastern areas which have traditionally had closer ties with Russia and where President Viktor Yanukovych has enjoyed strong support." One of the opposition leaders, Arseniy Yatsenyuk rejected Yanukovych's offer to be named prime minister, "because the basic demands of the demonstrators must be met, including the holding of elections." According to official data, three people have died in the clashes between demonstrators and security forces, while the opposition claims that six people lost their lives.
