BELGRADE Vladimir Cvijan has resigned from all positions he held in the SNS party and demanded to be removed from the list of its members on Monday. Cvijan is a member of the presidency of the Serb Progressives (SNS), and an MP. Cvijan leaves SNS, withdraws his candidacy “In an atmosphere of fear, pressures, media blockade, intimidation and arrest threats, it is pointless to expect a fair campaign and I therefore withdraw my candidacy for president of what is left of the SNS,” Cvijan said in a letter to the SNS presidency, which he also had delivered to the media. Cvijan expressed confidence that the SNS has no future and that “many supporters, honest (SNS) members and voters recognize the need to create a new force.” “I am always ready to confront (SNS leader) Aleksandar Vucic with my opinions and ideas before the widest possible audience - if he is bold enough,” said Cvijan. Cvijan pointed out that he had entered the SNS because he believed in its program and the idea that “Serbia will never again be under the rule of a single man.” The SNS had promised new jobs and a better life for all, foreign investment, protection of the Serb people wherever they may live, free media, fair elections, free judiciary and fair trials, and said that anyone who has the courage will have earned a well-deserved place for them in Serbia, he added. “We promised a lot during the campaign and have done very little,” said Cvijan.
