BELGRADE Serbia will take part in all talks on the South Stream gas pipeline to be held with energy ministers of all participating countries in Brussels in January. This was announced by Serbian Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic on Thursday. Serbia to take part in South Stream talks Mihajlovic underlined that the construction of South Stream will go according to the plan, but added that it is clear that the agreement on the project is not in line with the EU Third Energy Package. Serbia is ready to discuss that, but this does not mean that the construction of the gas pipeline would be halted, she said at a press conference in the Serbian government. Asked about Serbia's position in the talks on South Stream, she said that "we will sit down to the table and talk as other EU countries would do”. "We are the last in that line, we are not an EU member state yet, but we will certainly adjust everything that is necessary," Mihajlovic said. "This is political bickering between Russia and the EU over Ukraine," Mihajlovic said. She noted that the new energy law, which is in the phase of public debate by the end of January, will fully implement the EU Third Energy Package. "We will not permit ourselves to fail to progress toward the EU, not only because this is an EU directive, but because that is good for Serbia," Mihajlovic said. (Tanjug) Tanjug
