ANKARA Turkish police used water cannons and tear gas to break up about 2,000 protesters outside a court in Ankara. Several protesters were injured and 18 arrested, reports Reuters. Turkish police clash with protesters The police clashed with the crowd at the entrance to a court where the trial was taking place for a police officer charged with killing a protester earlier this year. Ahmet Shabaz was accused of shooting and killing protester Ethem Sarisuluk in June, during "a brutal police response" to a protest in Taksim Square in Istanbul - part of a wave of anti-government demonstrations across Turkey. Six people, including a policeman, were killed in those riots, which was considered one of the greatest challenges to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his 10-year rule.
