BELGRADE Prime Minister Ivica Dacic met on Thursday in Belgrade with leaders of ethnic Albanian political parties from southern Serbia. He told them the government was trying to solve all the problems the people of the municipalities Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja were facing, adding that "ministers would visit the area regularly in the future and inspect the implementation of measures." PM meets with representatives of ethnic Albanians Current problems regarding security, economic development, health-care, welfare, education, local government and court system were discussed at the meeting. It was agreed for the Albanian party leaders and state government officials to analyze the results of the measures every three months. The ministries in charge received their tasks and will work with the local authorities on solving all standing issues, the government announced after the meeting. Dacic stressed in particular the need to develop the economy of southern Serbia, adding that minister would visit the area and inspect the implementation of the measures meant to solve the problems the local people face. President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja Zoran Stankovic told reporters that the government adopted a decision on southern Serbia on June 4 and its implementation starts immediately. Serbian Minister of Health Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic will visit Presevo in late October so as to launch the search for a solution to the issues in the health-care sector. Stankovic recalled that the government adopted seven topics for the talks with ethnic Albanians from southern Serbia, including security, economic issues, judiciary, health-care and education. The first talks should be held later this month and the talks between the minister of health and Albanian leaders will focus on health-care protection for people from Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, Stankovic said and added that 13 ministries will be included in the talks. He specified that ethnic Albanians listed the funding of the final stage of maternity hospital, specialization of doctors and similar matters as problems in the health-care sector. Stankovic said that the prime minister agreed at the meeting that everyone should voice their view of the situation and that local Albanians should have meetings with the government on a three-month basis, where Dacic would be informed about the agreement reached in the previous period. MP in the Serbian parliament and leader of the Party for Democratic Action Riza Halimi said that the talks with Dacic were tangible and that he is leaving the meeting with more optimism.
