BELGRADE Following initial modest results, online shopping is now "booming", Vecernje Novosti writes, quoting figures of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS). During the first six months of this year, Serbian citizens have spent RSD 499.5 million (some EUR 4.5 million) on domestic and EUR 109 million on foreign websites, paying with credit cards. Online shopping up 30% in first half of year Figures of commercial banks consolidated by the NBS reveal that Serbian citizens spend around EUR 154 per transaction on average on foreign websites and EUR 50 in domestic online stores. In the first six months of 2013, a total of 89,700 payments have been carried out on the internet in Serbia and 707,000 transactions have been carried out through foreign websites, the NBS announced. In comparison to the same period last year, Serbians in 2013 spend much more on domestic websites while purchases on foreign websites fell slightly.
