SARAJEVO The Bosnia-Herzegovina chief prosecutor has proposed that Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina (FBiH) President Zivko Budimir be remanded in custody for a month. Budimir was arrested on Friday on corruption charges. Prosecutor wants Budimir remanded in custody It is suspected that he was accepting bribes in exchange for granting pardons. Among people Budimir pardoned are former commander of the Muslim forces in Srebrenica Naser Oric and notorious criminal Mersed Hadzic. All persons arrested on Friday on suspicion of being involved in the corruption case were questioned and remanded in custody on Saturday, Sarajevo-based daily Dnevni avaz has reported. Budimir granted pardon to as many as 162 convicts from May 2011 until December 2012. A total of 435 pardon requests were filed in that period. For example, the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency granted only one pardon out of 22 requests last year. The Republic of Srpska (RS) president reviewed 90 requests in 2012 but granted only one pardon.
