Montenegrin president claims his victory was “convincing”

Montenegrin President Filip Vujanović has assessed that his victory in the recently held presidential election was “clear and convincing”.

PODGORICA Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic has assessed that his victory in the recently held presidential election was “clear and convincing”. He added that the opposition’s request to repeat the election was “nonsensical”. Montenegrin president claims his victory was “convincing” Vujanovic told Podgorica-based daily Dnevne novine that he expected his opponent Miodrag Lekic to “have democratic capacity to admit defeat“. “I am sorry that Lekic is not capable of admitting the defeat democratically,” the Montenegrin president was quoted as saying. Lekic and the entire opposition are questioning results of the April 7 presidential election. They want the results annulled and the election repeated. The government has rejected the request and parliament released that it cannot annul the results of the vote. Vujanovic said that Lekic had had an opportunity to see for himself that he had lost and that he had used all democratic means to check the election results.
