Battle for Babies campaign wins European Award

Two European Awards for corporate social responsibility in Serbia have been presented in Belgrade. B92 won the award for its Battle for Babies campaign.

BELGRADE Two European Awards for corporate social responsibility in Serbia have been presented in Belgrade. B92 won the award for its Battle for Babies campaign. The European Awards are presented in 28 countries world wide. Battle for Babies campaign wins European Award The best joint initiatives that companies and small- and medium-sized firms realized in cooperation with public and civil sector in the last five years won the awards. Sunce Marinkovic won the award in the small- and medium-sized company category for a project dubbed “Sun for a brighter future” which has been realized in cooperation with six Kragujevac-based organizations - Business Start-Up Center, Princess Ljubica Center for Development of Social Protection Services, Citizens’ Association for Social Development SUNCE, Mladost Children’s Home, Disable Youth Club and Association of the Deaf. The inclusive project is aimed at employing and providing internships for students and disabled persons. (B92) In the large company category, B92 won the award for Battle for Babies that was realized in accordance with the Institute for Neonatology, Saatchi&Saatchi, Draeger and Direct Media PR. The joint initiative managed to secure 207 new baby incubators for hospitals across Serbia in less than a year, to revive the spirit of solidarity and civil responsibility and to show that some of the biggest problems can be solved through a successful cooperation between various sectors. Smart Kolektiv Director Neven Marinovic, Business Leaders Forum of Serbia and Coca-Cola Hellenic Director Ramon Weidingerand jury member and European Movement in Serbia Secretary General Maja Bobic addressed the guests. (B92) 15 projects competed for the award. EU Integration Office Director Milan Pajevic, Bobic, journalist and Evronet editor Maja Divac, National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED) Executive Director Violeta Jovanovic and Ernst & Young Partner Stephen Fish assessed the projects as member of an independent jury. The decision was made based on criteria that are the same in all countries and they assess the projects’ innovation, the way they are realized and their affect on the society and companies. Together with award winners from other countries, the Serbian winners will receive the European Commission’s special awards at a grand ceremony in June in Brussels. The idea of the European Awards for corporate social responsibility is to increase the number of good examples of the corporate social responsibility and raise awareness of a positive role that the business sector can have in a society. The awards are presented by international organizations CSR Europe and Business in the Community together with partners in Europe and with support of the European Commission. The competition in Serbia is organized by Smart Kolektiv, national partner of CSR Europe and Business Leaders Forum. (B92) B92
