Serbian Patriarch Irinej has said that the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) will not release a letter sent to President Tomislav Nikolić for now.

BELGRADE Serbian Patriarch Irinej has said that the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) will not release a letter sent to President Tomislav Nikolic for now. He also added that the SPC’s position on Kosovo was well-known. SPC’s stance on Kosovo is well-known, patriarch says “I do not see any reason why it would be necessary to release the letter that was given to the president or what it would be achieved by it,” he told daily Vecernje novosit. Irinej repeated that he did not know who wrote and released a letter which claims that the SPC Synod was opposed to the state policy on Kosovo and denied it was authentic. “The position of the Serbian Church on Kosovo’s future is well-known and the document would not change anything,” he added. “We have submitted our stance to the state leadership and the release of the letter’s content does not depend on us anymore,” he explained.
