BELGRADE Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic stated Thursday that he would represent Serbia at a debate on the Hague Trbinal in the UN Security Council. The debate is dedicated to a six-month report on the work of the Hague Tribunal and it will be held on December 5. Deputy PM Vucic to represent Serbia at UN debate on Tribunal “This will be an opportunity to say to all UNSC members what Serbia's thinks of the work of the Hague Tribunal,” Vucic said, and added that he would make sure to state a position that was supported by legal facts. He stressed that the latest ruling, by which the Hague Tribunal acquitted former commander of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) Ramush Haradinaj and two other former members of this paramilitary formation, was a blow for everyone in Serbia, but, above all, "a blow for elementary principles of respect for law and justice all over the world." "Perhaps it is good that, in this misfortune of ours, in a great torment that befell us, the representatives of many governments, who wholeheartedly supported the work of this court, are somewhat shocked by the final judgments for Croat Generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac and for Haradinaj," the deputy PM pointed out. "The people with whose deaths Haradinaj was charged have not resurrected; those people were murdered and someone is responsible for their deaths, but The Hague Tribunal obviously was not interested in the fact that 300,000 Serbs were expelled from Serbian Krajina, maybe because they are not people? Or perhaps the lives of some are more valuable than the lives of Serbs?" Vucic said in the Serbian parliament where ministers answered the questions of MPs. The first deputy prime minister also said that Serbia should now raise its voice against injustice and show disagreement with Hague Tribunal rulings wherever it can, and added that, perhaps, this is an opportunity for a different view of the situation in the Balkans, for a different view of Serbia.
