Man beats retired Tanjug reporter to death
The police say they have a suspect in custody in the murder case that took place early on Monday in New Belgrade, when an 82-year-old man was beaten to death.

BELGRADE The police say they have a suspect in custody in the murder case that took place early on Monday in New Belgrade, when an 82-year-old man was beaten to death. The suspect, who was arrested at the scene, has been identified as 20-year-old Nikola B. A statement from the Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) expressed their shock at the news, and named the man as Ljubomir Kucic. Kucic died in the street in front of a kiosk, after being assaulted and hit and kicked several times in the head and the rest of his body. The incident happened at 05:00 CET on Monday. Kucic, a Belgrader, joined Tanjug in 1958 to spend his entire career working for the agency, first as a translator and then as a journalist. A polyglot, Kucic spoke four foreign languages and was the state news agency's correspondent from Germany before becoming deputy director of Tanjug's Belgrade-based International Press Center.
