ZVECAN, LEPOSAVIC Unknown persons threw a bomb in Kosovska Mitrovica Health Center Director Milan Jakovljevic’s yard in Zvecan on Tuesday night. A car owned by a Serb, a member of the Kosovo police, was damaged in a blast in Leposavic. Two bomb attacks in northern Kosovo Nobody was injured in the incidents, Kosovo police deputy regional director Ergin Medic told Tanjug. All members of Jakovljevic’s family were inside the house when a hand grenade was thrown into the yard around 23:00 CET. A vehicle that was parked in the yard suffered minor damage and windows on a nearby house were broken. Kosovo police came to the scene and secured the blast site last night and the investigation will be done today. A motive for the attack is still unknown. Jakovljevic said that this was an attack on the Health Center and not on his family. He added that there were pressures to abolish the Serbian institutions in northern Kosovo and that the Health Center in Kosovska Mitrovica was a backbone of those institutions. “I don’t think it is an attack on me and my family, this is an attack on the institution. My family was attacked because I am a director of the Health Center,” Jakovljevic pointed out. He told a press conference that his wife was a court president and that the attack was aimed at destroying the Serbian institutions in northern Kosovo. Jakovljevic stressed that a son of Surgical Ward Chief Radimir Jankovic was attacked this morning in Zvecan and that it was obvious that a serial attack on the most respectable doctors of the Kosovska Mitrovica hospital was under way. According to him, the attacks are aimed at intimidating Serbs and driving them out from Kosovo. Medic added that a bomb was thrown into the yard of Kosovo police member Radovan Jovanovic a little after midnight. Kosovska Mitrovica District Head Radenko Nedeljkovic has condemned the attacks and requested “from security institutions in the province to find and punish the perpetrators.” “Throwing of explosive devices in Zvecan and Leposavic, which caused significant material damage, represents a vandal and cowardly act that confirms alleged claims of Pristina and a part of the international community that lawlessness and crime rule in northern Kosovo and Metohija,” he said in a statement for Beta news agency. “It is high time for security institutions, KFOR, EULEX and KPS to stop implementing Pristina’s unilateral decisions and start doing the work that is under their jurisdiction,” Nedeljkovic pointed out. He expressed hope that the two incidents would not be forgotten like previous crimes against Serbs and other non-Albanians. (Beta, file) Beta Tanjug

Nobody was injured in the incidents, Kosovo police deputy regional director Ergin Medić told Tanjug.

All members of Jakovljević’s family were inside the house when a hand grenade was thrown into the yard around 23:00 CET.

A vehicle that was parked in the yard suffered minor damage and windows on a nearby house were broken.

Kosovo police came to the scene and secured the blast site last night and the investigation will be done today.

A motive for the attack is still unknown.

Jakovljević said that this was an attack on the Health Center and not on his family.

He added that there were pressures to abolish the Serbian institutions in northern Kosovo and that the Health Center in Kosovska Mitrovica was a backbone of those institutions.

“I don’t think it is an attack on me and my family, this is an attack on the institution. My family was attacked because I am a director of the Health Center,” Jakovljević pointed out.

According to him, the attacks are aimed at intimidating Serbs and driving them out from Kosovo.

Medić added that a bomb was thrown into the yard of Kosovo police member Radovan Jovanović a little after midnight.

Kosovska Mitrovica District Head Radenko Nedeljković has condemned the attacks and requested “from security institutions in the province to find and punish the perpetrators.”

“It is high time for security institutions, KFOR, EULEX and KPS to stop implementing Priština’s unilateral decisions and start doing the work that is under their jurisdiction,” Nedeljković pointed out.

He expressed hope that the two incidents would not be forgotten like previous crimes against Serbs and other non-Albanians.
