NOVI SAD EXIT Festival has done more to promote Serbia than the country's diplomacy, Vojvodina's provincial government head Bojan Pajtic has asserted. Pajtic on Thursday visited the music festival's camp at Novi Sad's Strand on the bank of the Danube, along with British Ambassador Michael Davenport and Novi Sad Mayor Igor Pavlicic. "EXIT promotes Serbia better than diplomacy" He pointed out that EXIT was founded 12 years ago, "as a result of a rebellion of young people aimed at linking Serbia to the world". “The festival has maintained its civilizing mission and its popularity and significance is most eloquently illustrated by the fact that it has received many prizes from important institutions in the world,” said Pajtic, stressing that the Vojvodina government is always ready to use all its resources to assist the music festival. This way, Pajtic said, the Vojvodina government wants to show young people all over the world that it is a friend of theirs. According to Pajtic, between 150,000 and 200,000 people are expected to visit EXIT over the following four days, or about 40,000 visitors each day. He said it was estimated that one third of the guests will come from abroad, excluding guests from the region. British Ambassador in Belgrade Michael Davenport said that it was highly positive for Novi Sad to host such a famous festival. Many British citizens have come to visit EXIT this year, and I am sure that they will enjoy themselves just like over the previous years, Davenport said, adding that the festival has a great reputation in his country and that all who have previously visited the festival were thrilled about it. The 13th edition of the international music festival is kicking off at the Petrovaradin Fortress late Thursday. It will host more than 400 performers on a total of 22 stages and will last through July 15. L-R: Pajtic, Davenport, Pavlicic (Tanjug) Tanjug
