Two men sentenced for crimes in Srebrenica

Dusko Jevic was sentenced to 35 and Mendeljev Djuric to 30 years in prison for war crimes in Srebrenica in July 1995 by the Bosnia-Herzegovina court on Friday. Goran Markovic and Nedjo Ikonic were acquitted of charges that they were involved in the crimes, Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) has reported. Two men sentenced for crimes in Srebrenica Jevic and Djuric were found guilty of “aiding genocide in the area of Srebrenica”. The court determined that they took part in expulsion of Bosniak population from Srebrenica and in the murder of around 1,000 men in the Kravica agricultural cooperative and therefore helped implement the plan aimed at exterminating the Bosniak population. Markovic and Nedjo Ikonic were acquitted because the Bosnia-Herzegovina Prosecution failed to prove their responsibility for the crimes in Srebrenica in July 1995. Jevic was a Republic of Srpska (RS) Police Special Brigade’s Jahorina Training Center commander, while Djuric was the unit’s First Company commander. The convicted men can file an appeal. Tanjug
