Around 20,000 citizens took part in a walk commemorating assassinated Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic dubbed “Walk for Zoran” in Belgrade on Saturday. The walk was organized by the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Walk commemorating Djindjic held in Belgrade The citizens started their walk from Simina St. in downtown Belgrade in front of the LDP headquarters. The participants then went to the Serbian government headquarters and laid flowers at the place where Djindjic was killed. The citizens, led by LDP leader Cedomir Jovanovic, his wife Jelena, Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) leader Vuk Draskovic and Social Democratic Union leader Zarko Korac, then headed toward Novo Groblje cemetery where the PM was buried. Some streets in downtown Belgrade were temporarily closed for traffic. “Years have passed but the time has not diminished the importance of the ideas that Zoran Djindjic promoted. This walk is an expression of respect of Zoran but also of readiness to do the job he gave his life for,” Jovanovic stressed. (Beta) Beta
