1. the more poeple come to reason, the better for Serbia.

not granting this candidate status was a stupid ( german ) mistake, and I am really thankful for that one.

the EU needs Serbia more than Serbia needs this shaky union that calls itself "european" as if others who did not join were not europeans... and very likely in the future just that will become more of a problem for the EU than for Serbia.

  2. Might I mention that Herman Van Rompuy the current president of the European council was not elected by any voter. He was selected by a globalist cabal. The price and pain of trying to save this EU failure has been enormous on the people of certain EU countries. How many anti-austerity strikes have we seen in Europe in the past 3 months? More than enough.

The EU is also having trouble trying to contain Viktor Orban of Hungary. This is another huge headache for the EU as certain Prime ministers don't wanna play Brussels game anymore.

As you seem to know all about this, tell us what were the questions or for that matter where did the focus groups come from?
As I have said many times with the right framing of questions you can even get some positives from an Israeli focus group on the subject of Adolph Hilter
Asking the wealthy part of Belgrade whether they think joining the EU is a good idea will result in a positive response, but ask the rest of Serbia the same question you would have a range varying from 10% to 30%.
I had a little experience with these focus groups, just a tad.

    (metrod, 13 January 2012 23:14)

That was one purpose and although it wasn’t envisioned that it would be a way for Germany to take over, Germany is unabashedly doing that. It has done that by sacrificing the welfare and wealth of it’s own citizens and encouraging other members knowingly to overly indebt themselves from it’s own financial institutions to keep Germany’s export surplus economy going year after year.
    [link]
As such it has correctly been described as a predatory nation, couple that with EU laws requiring members to disassemble industries that compete with Germany’s under the guise of being financially viable, further monopolises Germany’s export opportunities by inheriting those markets.
    [link]

In relation to the article, it is enough for Serbia joining just EFTA and not the EU.
    1) It gives it’s citizens the opportunity to work abroad if need be.
    2) It offers Serbia a massive opportunity if it ensures rules and regulations to encourage EU industries to relocate in Serbia taking advantage of various treaties it has to healthy Eastern markets. Croatian companies moving to Serbia to take advantage of CEFTA is a prime example.
    3) Less costly obligations and timelines affording nation building at a more comfortable pace.
    4) Europe’s deflationary monetary process impedes upon Serbia’s growth potential allowing others outside the EU time to firmly establish markets for their products.
    5) Sovereignty, the ability to manoeuvre a country of 10 million to focus on new opportunities without needing permission from an overly bureaucratic parliament.

The purpose why the EU was established is undebatable what it is being used for now is equally so.

  14. @ United States of Albania,

Actually Iowe is just a realist sharing some links to a thing called 'reality' which is something you don't sound too familiar with accepting.

France & Austria just lost their credit rating and as all of us know Greece is closer to bankruptcy.

Does American media have to take hold of the story & blow it out of proportion & add some propaganda for you to call it a reliable source???

I think the only person here who is delusional is you. The only person detached from reality is you.

I know you think of us Serbs as "west" haters but we are not alone with our views on "America".

We are not alone with how many of us see the European Union. We have been rejected and hung on a string like a puppet, following demand after demand and never actually reaching the end of the rainbow.

We have witnessed many countries in the EU receive nothing and their respective countries destroyed & raped economically.

Speaking from a purely economic perspective the EU does not look like it will stay together. It is not a matter of "west" haters, but a matter of people talking about the current realities.

I think you're insecure & afraid of what might happen if the EU does collapse as well as America losing their grip on global power.

  21. It is really quite irrelevant what the Serbian people think since what they wish matters not to the EU. The way it looks at the moment is that it will take another twenty years before Serbia will meet the criteria for candidate status. There are many areas in which Serbia is inadequate. The list is too lengthy to enumerate but a few of the major deficiencies are the lack of ability to get along with its neighbors and the fact that its banks do not have the proper reserves to meet EU standards. The lack of transparency is also a major obstacle.

How is my question about whether we should be surprised at the fall in Serbians’ support for EU membership a “snide” comment???? The online Free Dictionary defines “snide” as being “maliciously derogatory, supercilious” and a counterfeit sham. How is my question “maliciously derogatory” or a “sham” when the figures showing a fall in Serbian support for EU were not cooked up by me but based on a poll that was conducted according to B92????? If you can prove that the poll was a farce, then by all means show us your evidence. Until you answer these questions of mine objectively, your posts remained indeed mindless tirades to me!
