Đoković wins Personality of Year award

World's best tennis player Novak Đoković is the winner of this year's Personality of the Year award given by the Banja Luka-based daily Nezavisne Novine.

World's best tennis player Novak Djokovic is the winner of this year's Personality of the Year award given by the Banja Luka-based daily Nezavisne Novine. The ceremony in Banja Luka, RS, on Wednesday was attended by Serbian President Boris Tadic and his RS counterpart Milorad Dodik. Djokovic wins Personality of Year award Addressing the gathering, Djokovic said that he was honored by the award, and thanked all the citizens of Bosnia who voted for him. Djokovic said that by deciding that the prestigious award should go to him, they proved that sport connects people and demonstrated just how much they value sports and respect athletes' success. Djokovic said that as a representative of sports, he hopes this achievement can serve as a model for all the children who are not sure what they should be when they grow up. "Sport implies a healthy life style, and speaking from experience, I can assert that nothing is impossible and that dreams can come true," said he. The tennis player also recalled that he achieved his greatest goals and ambitions in the season that just ended. Djokovic's visit to Banja Luka attracted a lot of attention, and some citizens even decided to wish him welcome in the downtown despite the freezing temperature. The Serbian athlete told reporters that he wants to keep playing brilliant tennis for as long as possible and earn as many Grand Slam titles as he can, and perhaps even win a few Davis Cup trophies.
