He noted that he is waiting to see the outcome of the Wednesday round of the Belgrade-Priština dialogue so that he could send a letter to foreign ministers of EU member countries as regards Serbia's candidate status.
He expressed expectation that the ministers would adopt an objective decision and added that although December 9 is close at hand, there is still hope.
We have not set conditions to Serbia for obtaining the EU candidate status, we recommended that the status should be granted to the country assuming that the dialogue would continue, Fule said at the forum on the perspectives of the Western Balkans which gathered regional leaders and EU officials.
Stating that the Belgrade-Priština dialogue is underway, Fule said that Serbia can still reach the finish line and win the crown, that is, the EU candidate status.
This race is a combination of marathon and sprint, he noted.
Fule commended Serbian President Boris Tadić on his call for Kosovo Serbs to withdraw from the barricades, and expressed expectation that this move would contribute to appeasement of tensions in the northern part of the province.
He also said that it is important for Priština to draw up a comprehensive plan for northern Kosovo so that the situation in this part of the province could be normalized.
The EU official stated that certain credibility issues as regards EU enlargement process are present both in the public of both members countries and EU hopefuls.
He noted that this is why he sent a letter to foreign ministers of EU member countries in which he underscored the importance of setting the date of talks for Montenegro on Monday, December 5, and added that he would also send a letter regarding Serbia's candidate status on Thursday.
Foreign ministers of EU countries will voice their stands on Serbia's EU candidate status and date of accession talks for Montenegro on Monday, December 5, while the final decision would be adopted by heads of state and governments four days later.
Among other officials, the forum in Brussels was attended by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Božidar Đelić, member of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency Bakir Izetbegović and Montenegrin Prime Minister Igor Lukšić.
It's not up to you to decide what's "truly Serbian"
(Danilo, 1 December 2011 13:34)"
And it is certainly not up to you, Danilo, to tell me what I write here and to post my opinions. I am sure that you as self-hating pseudo-"Serb" would like to have Serbia run by people like yourself so it can go down the drain even faster. If I would take the ratio of recommended over poor comment it seems that most visitors who visited thus article and read it and the comments agreed with with. Of course I will not loose one single minute of sleep when a person like you does not like what I write. In fact, I have stopped reading your comments because they are so poor and I rather spend that half minute on something more useful.

Turkey "won" this "crown" all the way back in 1999 ..... and had remained in limbo since ....... some victory indeed .......

I've never seen a group of people as poorly treated as Serbs are. It is unbelievable. There is no use in trying to be a member of a club that really does not want you. Yet, some people in Serbia's government insist on trying, thinking if that if they do x,y, and z, they will finally be allowed in. Yet, once those three conditions are met, a,b, and c are added. This goes on and on until Serbia has no dignity left. Fortunately, most Serbs have dignity, unlike the Albanians in the Kosovo-Albanian government whom seem to prostrate themselves to any western master offering them a nickle (not even a dollar). I am more proud than ever of my Serbian heritage when I see some strong Serbian women risking their lives by standing or sitting in front of tanks that can murder many people at one moment. That is strength! However, those Serbs who act like certain Albanians and are willing to sell themselves for EU membership for a promise of wealth (and it's a false promise as they will learn), I pity you and you make me want to be ashamed of my background.

The finish line is being relocated further away time and time again plus instead of a flat surface it is being put on a mountain. IF Serbia actually reaches "the finish" line I am 100% sure that it will not feel like winning and that there will be no crown or medal. Tadic and his cronies are selling out Kosovo and the Kosovo Serbs behind closed doors and they will announce it after they have won their "victory" (which is really a victory of Serbia's enemies) and when there will be no way back (at least for a while; never say never). An amputated Serbia will be harassed for years to come by future EU member Croatia because according to EU standards there do not have to be mutual "good neighborly relations" and so eventually Croatia will force Serbia to drop its real genocide lawsuit while Croatia does not have to drop its fake genocide lawsuit. Only a true patriotic Serbian government can save the next three generations.
