Serbian President Boris Tadic called on K. Serbs to leave the barricades only two days before EU foreign ministers will present their positions about Serbia. Tadic’s appeal came only a day after the incident in the village of Jagnjenica when 66 Serbs and several dozens of KFOR troops were injured. “Tadic's statement about barricades response to Germany” According to daily Danas, the Serbian officials received clear warnings from several European capitals and Brussels that Serbia’s EU candidacy bid was seriously jeopardized. It became clear that Belgrade needs to unequivocally react to the violence in northern Kosovo after it had been confirmed that 27 EU foreign ministers would informally exchange opinions about Serbia on Thursday, December 1, the daily writes. The fact that German KFOR troops were sent to remove the barricades was another signal that Berlin was not giving up on its principles when it comes to the situation in northern Kosovo, Danas has reported. Belgrade’s reaction to the latest violence at the barricades in the light of security information that KFOR will continue their operations and political warnings that the candidate status has never been this threatened before was discussed at the Serbian presidency late on Monday. Among others, the meeting was attended by Tadic and his closest associates, Belgrade team chief Borislav Stefanovic and Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic. Danas points out that the president’s clear message that the barricades, which have been located in northern Kosovo since July 25, need to be removed should be viewed in the light of all the recent events. It was announced in the meantime that Tadic would visit Berlin on Saturday and Sunday where he will take part in an international conference at opposition The Social Democratic Party of Germany’s invitation.
