Milo Djukanovic says that the relations between Montenegro and Serbia are at significantly lower level than it is necessary and possible. The leader of the ruling Montenegrin DPS party and the former Montenegrin PM and president said that the reason for such situation was "the fact that Belgrade has not yet fully accepted Montenegro's independence". "Serbia yet to fully accept Montenegro's independence" Montenegro declared independence in June 2006, after a referendum, and was recognized by Serbia the same month. But in an interview for the Belgrade-based TV Kosava, which was broadcast on the Podgorica-based TV In on Thursday evening, Djukanovic said that the Serbian authorities are constantly flirting with powerful ideological centers in that country which do not back the Montenegrin independence. He accused a part of the Montenegrin media of running a smear campaign against him, and of constantly publishing "false warrants for his arrest". Milo Djukanovic (file)
