President Boris Tadic said that he is offended by the reasons stated by the London court for denying Belgrade’s request for the extradition of Ejup Ganic. Judge Timothy Workman stated that there is evidence that the trial, if held in Belgrade, would be political motivated. "Ganic case decision offensive" He said that he was not given any reliable evidence supporting the extradition of the wartime Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency official to Belgrade to stand trial. “I cannot understand the comment that someone would be tried here based on politics and not justice, and it is offensive to myself personally and to Serbia,” Tadic said. He reminded that Serbia has convicted and given Draconian sentences to its own citizens and that Belgrade does not make any distinctions between religious beliefs and ethnicity in its trials. “I would like if the ambassadors of the countries from which these messages are coming from would at least explain to officials in their legislative institutions that this is a country that respects the legal order of the EU and that there are no differences made regarding nationality and religion,” the president said.
