Romania's Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi has reiterated that his country will not recognize Kosovo. He also stressed that Romania supports the Western Balkan countries on their path towards the EU. Romanian FM: No Kosovo recognition Baconschi, who met with Lamberto Zannier, head of the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), said that peace and stability in Kosovo and the region need to be preserved, according to a Friday announcement by the Foreign Ministry reported by the Agerpres news agency. The two officials discussed the roles that UNMIK and EU Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) have there, stressing that international missions should take a neutral stand in solving any problems in Kosovo. Romania is one of the five EU countries that have not recognized Kosovo's unilaterally declared independence, the other four being Spain, Slovakia, Greece and Cyprus. Romania has been providing plenty of help for the peace missions in Kosovo. There are 140 Romanian soldiers in NATO's KFOR, 193 police officers and civilians in EULEX and two officers are part of UNMIK.
