The seventh and eighth graders from the elementary school experimental classes, attached to the high school, were the only non-Russian participants. Young mathematicians win medals The competition, bringing together the best students from all of Russia, was held in St. Petersburg. Serbia’s best young mathematicians say they "fell in love with math even before they started school", and the competition in St. Petersburg was their first international. The best among them was Djordje Zikerlic who won silver, as did his friend Ivan Tanasijevic. Jelena Trisovic and Petar Trifunovic brought home bronze medals. They were preparing for this competition for about a week, together with Djordje and Ivan. The fact that none of the 40 competitors managed to solve all the problems shows the level of difficulty involved, they said. “That’s the competition of the entire Russia, I think it’s pretty important for them and that they are preparing for it a lot. We were guests and it was very nice, I have very nice impressions from there,” Trisovic explained. “I’m satisfied, that’s a good experience and we will probably do even better when we go somewhere next time,” Trifunovic said.
