On a request made by the opposition Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), the parliamentary speaker has scheduled a meeting of the Traffic Committee for Tuesday. The committee will be discussing the problems with the cracks in Belgrade’s Gazela Bridge. Parliamentary committee to discuss bridge LDP official Slobodan Maras told B92 that the party is calling for the responsibility for this to be confirmed by the Serbian Roads public company and the Infrastructure Ministry, adding that he expects that Serbian Roads officials and Infrastructure Minister Milutin Mrkonjic will attend the meeting. “What interests us is who is responsible for something like this and what I expect even more is to hear how long the reconstruction of the Gazela will last, how much it will cost, since we hear that the credit we are expecting to receive is worth 35 million and that the reconstruction will cost 60 million,” Maras said. “It is important that we don’t get the credit and then realize that we need more than 20 million more to finish the reconstruction of the most important bridge. The problem is the fact that the responsibility for this that occurred is not the responsibility of only this ministry and company, but of those who earlier controlled this ministry and company,” Maras told B92.
