A B92 investigative program Reakcija (Reaction) will deal with the protests regarding the arrest of four former policemen suspected of war crimes in Kosovo. Besides the question of who is behind the protests in Leskovac organized after the arrested of the members of the 37th detachment of the Special Police Units (PJP), the program investigated who threatened “insiders” who gave statements to B92 anonymously regarding the war crimes and what the police and prosecution had done. Who is threatening witnesses? B92 found out that in Leskovac, people know the contents of the charges filed by the Humanitarian Law Center (FHP) against 15 former PJP members. This information also includes the names of the witnesses that have recently being attacked and threatened. It says that they have been called traitors and other offensive names. The “insiders” were threatened earlier when they pointed out to some illegal issues in the procedures carried out by their senior officers. “I said, ‘Why not speak out when I have nothing to lose?’ He looked at me and said, ‘what about your kids?’” one of the witnesses said. “I was convinced after one conversation with [Interior] Minister Ivica Dacic and [War Crimes] Prosecutor Vukcevic that the interior minister would make sure that the threats would not be repeated and that nothing would happen to the witnesses,” War Crimes Prosecution spokesperson Bruno Vekaric said. B92 uncovered that local police in Vlastotince brought in stolen cars from Kosovo and are still using the car as their official police vehicles. “That car was brought in from Kosovo, and that is a public secret, in Vlastotince everyone knows this, Mercedeses are not being used as officials vehicles in the Interior Ministry,” a witness said. “If is was just one car…I know several, and exactly which ones, but I don’t want to get into that,” daily Vreme journalist Milos Vasic also told the program's authors.
