DS official Dragan Djilas says a local government in Belgrade will be constituted between August 14 and 20. Djilas said that talks between the Democratic Party (DS)-led “For a European Belgrade” list and the Socialist Party (SPS)-led coalition had progressed, and that there would soon be an agreement to form a local government. DS: Belgrade govt. by late August “We have harmonized our programs, only a few details are left,” Djilas told a press conference. The DS’s candidate for mayor said that there were no serious problems, and that he was confident that an agreement would be reached. Djilas said that he expected the LDP to support the coalition between the DS-led list and the SPS, adding that he was convinced that mechanisms could be found for giving LDP influence and allowing the party to participate in the city government in return for its backing. “The DS is prepared to assume the burden of forming such a government by giving away positions that it is due to receive,” he said.
