It is very important for EULEX to be deployed in the entire territory of Kosovo, Pieter Feith was quoted as saying on Monday. The Dutch diplomat is the European Union's special envoy in Kosovo, and also holds the office of the International Civilian Representative. Feith: EULEX in all of Kosovo KiM Radio reported today that Feith, speaking after a meeting with Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu, did not give any timeframe for the establishment of the Northern Kosovska Mitrovica municipality, which is described as "a part of the decentralization process". "As far as the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica is concerned, we are continuing with talks with the government, we have spoken about the development of the situation in the north, as well as the EULEX deployment in all parts of Kosovo." "This is a very important contribution to the establishment of the entire mission, and it is important that a new government in Belgrade realizes the importance of the mission's presence in the entire territory of Kosovo," FoNet news agency quoted Feith as saying. He added that the International Steering Group for Kosovo sees the newly set up Serb assembly as being "without legal effect". Sejdiu repeated after the meeting that negotiations with Belgrade can only concern non-status issues. "We can talk about freedom of movement, suppression of crime, and the like. Those subjects that are appraised to be status-related will not be talked about," Sejdiu said.
