A KFOR in eastern Kosovo says there are no armed groups in the region along the border with Macedonia. U.S. General John Davoren told Albanian language daily Koha Ditore in Pristina that it is part of the responsibility of the multinational brigade under his command "to make sure that there are no armed forces in the area near Serbia and Macedonia". KFOR: No armed groups in Kosovo “KFOR is deployed in these regions and it looks as if there are no armed groups in these parts of Kosovo,” Davoren said. He was reacting to the recent media claims that there are armed groups in Kosovo near Macedonia who oppose that part of the territory belonging to the Macedonian side. The general said that he is sure that the Serbian parliamentary and local elections on May 11 will not have any effect on the security situation in Kosovo. KFOR will not participate in the organizing of the Serbian elections in Kosovo, it will not secure the vote, but will make sure that peace is maintained in Kosovo, Davoren said.
