Hashim Thaci says that Kosovo will strive to form good neighborly relations with all countries in the region. “We have good relations with Macedonia, Montenegro and Albania. I hope that after declaring independence, Kosovo will have normal relations and communication with Serbia,“ the Kosovo prime minister said in a interview with the BBC in Albanian. Thaci wants “good neighborly relations” with Serbia To the interviewer’s question of whether he would ask Serbia to recognize Kosovo’s independence, Thaci replied that “Pristina is prepared to recognize Serbia’s independence and of course it will ask the same – that Belgrade recognizes the independent and sovereign state of Kosovo – for the good of the country, peace and stability in the region, and investment and global security.“ Thaci said that “Kosovo has entered the final phase of preparations for declaring independence, and no obstacle can stand in the way of independence becoming official.“ “All the Kosovo institutions’ activities will be coordinated wih our international partners. A future international mission is welcome in Kosovo and we will have close cooperation with this mission,“ the Kosovo prime minister added. “The decision to declare independence will be carried out in complete cooperation with Washington and Brussels.
