The Electoral Commission, RIK, today rejected Hadzi Andrej Milic's candidature for the presidential elections. Milic, best known as the leader of a self-styled group prone to verbal attacks on Kosovo's Albanians and the international representatives in the province, the Guard of Czar Lazar, apparently tried to become a candidate without submitting a single signature supporting his bid, and without giving the commission proof about his place of residence. RIK rejects Czar Lazar leader's presidential bid An obscure party called Ujedinjeni Pokret Srbstva ("United Movement of Serbhood"), was behind Milic's failed attempt to run for president. But now RIK says that while it does have a party named Ujedinjeni Pokret Srpstva in its register, the one using the obsolete Serbian word for Serbhood, srbstvo, does not exist. Milic said earlier that "although he gathered the necessary 10,000 signatures from citizens," he would not hand over the material. The deadline for candidates to submit their bids expires at midnight today, while the official list will be published on January 4. So far, nine candidates have been confirmed, including front runners Boris Tadic (DS) and Tomislav Nikolic (SRS), while others likely to receive significant support from voters include Velimir Ilic (NS), Cedomir Jovanovic (LDP) and Militin Mrkonjic (SPS).
