Six charged with terrorist fundraising in UK

The men are due to appear before magistrates in London on Monday, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

They were arrested in dawn raids last Tuesday.

As well as Izzadeen, the men were named as Shal Jalal Hussein, 24, of east London, Omar Zaheer, 27, of west London, Simon Keeler, 35, of east London, Ibrahim Abdullah Hassan, 21, of east London and Rajib Khan, 28, of Luton, north of London.

Keeler, Hassan and Khan along with Izzadeen face the additional charge of inciting terrorism abroad.

Born Trevor Brooks in Jamaica, Izzadeen shot to prominence when he shouted down Reid as he tried to give a speech to Muslim leaders last September urging them to root out extremism.

He has not been accused of any crime over that outburst but was charged by police earlier this year with encouraging terrorism during a speech he gave in Birmingham in 2006.
