Crisis Staff Decision: Mandatory wearing of masks indoors-harsh measures for hotspots

Also, a decision was made to turn KBC Bezanijska kosa in Belgrade into a COVID-19 hospital, as well as to ban until further notice the visits to hospitals, in order to further prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Immunologist and member of the Crisis Staff, Srdja Jankovic, stated that wearing masks will be mandatory in city and suburban transport, and that citizens without masks will not be able to enter vehicles.

Jankovic told reporters after the session of the Crisis Staff that it remains a recommendation to wear masks indoors.

"As far as open space is concerned, it is important to keep a social distance," Jankovic pointed out.

He added that the current restrictions remain in force - a maximum of 500 people indoors, while there are no restrictions outdoors.

Asked whether there are any penalties for not wearing masks, Jankovic said that the Crisis Staff has taken the position that penal policy is not a solution, but that public transport cannot be entered without a mask.

The media also state that a decision was made to introduce stricter measures in areas where there are more infected people, which means that those areas could refer to Belgrade, Kragujevac, Vranje and Novi Pazar.

In cases where there are no new patients, only current recommendations will apply.
