"The question is whether this is a dialogue with Pristina, negotiations, or we will be piling up on their side (Pristina) those who, by the way, stand behind them and support them," Dacic told TV Pink on Thursday morning, and added that as far as the United States is concerned, "they have always, quite by accident, present in some way Brussels (during Kosovs negotiations), and they talked to both sides."

He added that the role of US was at times also constructive, when they put pressure on Pristina on some issues. "That's not what it's about now, and there's no reason to change that format, or for someone to join (the dialogue," said Dacic.

Now, he continued, there is pressure of sorts coming from some EU countries who are dissatisfied with the way the dialogue is being conducted, and are asking EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini to appoint someone whose only task will be the dialogue.

The minister recalled that the mediation in the talks has always been the task of the EU foreign policy chief, and added that he believes it would remain this way. He pointed out that now, however, there what could be expected from the next round is a big unknown, "bearing in mind that we want to reach agreement and make a compromise."

"If somebody expects us to accept unilateral acts made by Pristina, that will not happen. And we will continue the policy of protecting our state interests," Dacic said.

The minister also said that he does not know when the dialogue would restart because some dates overlap with the obligations of President Aleksandar Vucic and of Mogherini. "I think it will be continued the way it began. And how will unfold further and what the topic will be, that is yet to be discussed," he said.

Speaking about the deadlines that are being mentioned, within in which the dialogue should end, Dacic said that such deadlines do not exist.
